In 1890, the U.S. government was still tallying the census from ten years ago. It was taking them so long because of the immigrant rush from Europe, and because they were doing it by hand. This inspired scientists to invent a mechanical way of tallying the census – therefore producing one of the first computers.

Each unit will cost approximately $ 4,000, more if professional installation is required. One unit in every home would be sufficient to cost and water saving. A private company who patents the idea will produce and distribute the units. The units will need to be on a roof or high surface near homes, and a ladder will be needed to access the surface. The units will be available in hardware stores disassembled. You can assemble it yourself with the provided instructions or pay a professional to assemble it for you. The project will be sponsored by ecological organizations. We will communicate the success of the project via online updates. The clean environment will verify that our money was spent wisely. The reports will be posted online, for low cost. Our model takes $3,000 to produce and customers buy the unit from us, so profit is actually made.
Our problem is the improving hygiene methods in a more energy efficient way. The problem is caused by the plethora of bacteria that floats through our air and objects we come in contact with. We have products that promote hygiene, but they lack energy awareness. This effects people because of the expenses that come with most hygienic needs, such as access to clean water. This problem came from humanity, the constant contact we are in with other people has subjected us to the dangers of lack of hygiene.
The problem of wasting water on hygiene has been around for a century or so, but society did not become aware of it until the 90’s. Humans particularly the United States contribute to the water waste. The only solution currently offered is water conservation, i.e. taking short showers vs. long showers; don’t leave the water running. During droughts many cities choose to ration water; like you can only water your lawn on certain days in ordinance to your zip code. I want to solve this problem because it is relevant to environmentalism and should be cost efficient for cities.

My knowledge of computers started at a very young age. Ever since I can remember my schools had a computer lab, even my elementary school. In about 2nd or 3rd grade I recall taking a weekly trip to the lab and playing KidPix on the computer. I would rate that as the funnest computer game ever and probably the only one I have ever played.
On a more related subject, as early as 6th grade at Kealing, I was expected to write, edit and print all sorts of papers and projects on a computer. I was expected to use most programs on a computer from excel to the internet to photo shop. And I did what I was assigned fairly well. Since middle school, my computer skills have only improved. I’m pretty sure I can already do everything that is expected of my in BCIS.
